HMF/HMC Apprentice Program 2017

Deadline has passed for 2017 Apprenticeship.

Apply to be an apprentice for the summer of 2017 by May 1. Perform with HMC in many concerts on a program of Americana, ragtime, and tango!

APPRENTICESHIP INFORMATION:

  • Positions are for young performers that have graduated with a Bachelor degree in percussion. There is no other age restriction.
  • There are 2-3 apprenticeships available.
  • Ideally, apprentices will be living within the heartland, but not required.
  • Apprentices will perform with HMC during June and July for many concerts.
    • As of January, there are about 12 concerts scheduled in June, starting with a 4-day rehearsal residency June 5-8. See Events page.
    • Main date ranges to be available are June 4-15 and June 21-30 (tour periods), and July 8-21 (Academy and SoundW.A.Y.S.).
  • Apprentices will attend the HMF Academy to perform, record, and teach.
  • Apprentices will teach at the first SoundW.A.Y.S. summer workshop in Waterloo, IA.
  • Apprentices will receive a $500 stipend for performances, a complete tuition waiver to the Academy ($850 value), additional pay (TBA) for work at SoundW.A.Y.S., and all housing and travel covered during tour periods.
  • Apprentices will be responsible for travel to and from Iowa for tour periods/SoundW.A.Y.S. and Wisconsin for Academy, and for housing at the Academy ($275).

      • Letter of Interest explaining your interest in becoming an ambassador for HMF and why you feel the HMC apprentice position is a good fit for you.

      • Video of at least 2 live performances of solo marimba works (unedited).
